Making music lessons fun with garbage!

My students are all motivated by garbage! Well my music theory game Garbage Monsters that is.

If you haven’t played it yet, Garbage Monsters is a note reading game which can be customised by the music teacher. Set five notes each question by dragging the notes up or down the stave into position and use for note naming, interval reading, steps and skips, or anything else you wish.

It’s a leaderboard game (it comes with a bright and colourful template to print out) and my students are in fierce competition to reach the top! There is also an in-built worldwide leaderboard and they have been inspired this week to beat the current winner who is on the opposite side of the world in New Zealand!

Today I decided I really had to add the extra cute monsters in the picture when I updated the game! They only appear if the student gets full marks with their music theory questions (the teacher chooses the score) and progress to a bonus round.

I’m looking forward to seeing what my students think of the new additions this week.

Find out more about Garbage Monsters in the Beginner Reader pack here and check out my leaderboard on my Facebook page below. I also wrote another post about it a while ago which you can find here.

Let me know if you have any questions.
