Music and storytelling

I’m an interpreter of stories. When I perform it’s like sitting down at my piano and telling fairy stories.

What a fantastic quote! A student’s performance can come alive when it is about storytelling.

I would love to hear how you approach interpretation with your students. Do you use pictures or mood boards? Perhaps, like me, you get your student to come up with their own story for the piece they are learning?

We have had some really fun and imaginative narratives in my studio including a great one recently about a piece called ‘The Tower’. My student’s story involved a heist and the Tower of London. It was very creative and made all the difference when it came to performing it!
